Collingwood has re-signed star brothers Josh and Nick Daicos for at least six more years with the pair rewarded for their stunning form this season.

Josh Daicos, 24, was set to become a restricted free agent at the end of next season but has extended his contract by five years until the end of 2030, while Brownlow Medal favourite Nick signed a four-year deal early in his career but is now committed until 2029.

The extensions will ensure the Daicos family becomes one of the most prolific in the game at a single club, after father Peter Daicos booted 549 goals in 250 games for Collingwood over a decorated 15-year career.

Collingwood football boss Graham Wright said the club was ecstatic to extend the brothers’ contracts.

“Josh and Nick are both quality young men and talented footballers and we are looking forward to seeing them in the black-and-white stripes for years to come,” Wright said.

“Josh continues to impress and has really shown consistency in his form across the last couple of seasons. The work that he puts into his craft as a footballer combined with his determination to become better every day should be commended.

“Nick, in only his second season and with 44 games under his belt at the elite level, is continuing to grow as a footballer.

“Like his brother Josh, Nick’s professionalism, preparation and attention to detail is consistently elite and it is these habits which will hold them both in good stead for years to come.”

The pair could both feature in the All-Australian team at the end of the season as Josh looms as one of the leading contenders for a specialist wing role alongside Sydney’s Errol Gulden and Essendon’s Nic Martin.

Josh is averaging 26 disposals and five score involvements per game, while Nick is certain to be rewarded as he continues to roam the field in a variety of roles with great success.

The second-year star is averaging 33 disposals, seven score involvements and almost one goal a game amid a number of best-on-ground performances.

Wright praised the pair’s personal qualities as they took fans’ questions in a special online announcement on Wednesday.

“Both young men are great ambassadors for our club. They are incredibly positive and outgoing people and have an openness and appetite to continue to learn and develop as people and footballers and we look forward to continuing to support that development at Collingwood,” he said.
