A Seven News Adelaidereport says Georgiades’ car pulled out and hit the 16-year-old just before 9am as she was on her way to school on Grange Rd in Henley Beach.
One witness said they heard “a great, loud bang”, and claimed crashes often occur at the location of the incident involving Georgiades and the teenage girl.
The South Australian club released a statement confirming the events of Thursday morning regarding the incident.
“The Port Adelaide Football Club is aware forward Mitch Georgiades was involved in a minor road accident on Thursday morning,” the statement read.
“Georgiades remained at the scene and co-operated with police.
“He was not injured in the incident.
“There is no suggestion of impropriety on Georgiades’ behalf.”
The report confirmed police are investigating to find out whether Georgiades had failed to give way to the female.
Georgiades sat on the sidelines with a hamstring injury for Port Adelaide’s stunning win over Geelong in their qualifying final, but will return to action in the SANFL on Saturday.
Should he get through that game unscathed, the 19-year-old forward stands a chance of being selected for the Power’s preliminary final against the winner of the Brisbane and Western Bulldogs semi-final.
