AFL teams: Round 16 team news for every match
Already missing skipper Max Gawn, the Demons are expected to lose another of their key big men for their Adelaide game, while St Kilda omitted five in an effort to kickstart a form reversal.

Don't miss out on the headlines from AFL. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Star Melbourne ruckman Luke Jackson is expected to miss the Demons clash with Adelaide with knee soreness.
The Demons are set to bring in emergency Mitch Brown to help the club’s ruck stocks with Max Gawn recovering from a syndesmosis injury but not ready to play.
It means the Demons will have Sam Weideman and Brown rucking, with Jackson’s injury minor but enough to keep him out against the Crows.
He has been named in the Demons’ side for the clash but Melbourne has such depth they do not have to push their best players with minor injuries.
Gawn is nearly ready to return from his ankle injury but the Demons are adamant they won’t rush him back given the prize ahead in finals.

He and Jackson are set to return against Geelong at GMHBA STadium on Friday week.
The Demons beat Geelong at that venue in round 23 last year from 32 points down at three quarter time to claim their first minor premiership since 1964.
Jackson is the subject of a significant long-term deal from Fremantle that he is seriously considering as he also mulls over offers from the Demons and West Coast.
Saints chop five to stop season slipping away
St Kilda coach Brett Ratten has reacted savagely to the Saints form slump, dumping five players for Friday night’s clash with Carlton.
Veterans Brad Hill and Paddy Ryder return after missing last week’s horror loss to Sydney with goalsneak Jack Higgins and Mason Wood also earning a recall.
The Saints have slipped out of the eight after losing their three matches since the mid-season bye with youngsters Cooper Sharman, Ben Long, Darragh Joyce, Ben Paton and Ryan Byrnes all dumped.
Carlton has resisted the temptation to recall defender Jacob Weitering with boom recruit Adam Cerra returning from injury.
Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield is finally back for his first game since injuring his calf in Round 10 with Gary Rohan also returning for Saturday’s clash with North Melbourne. Cats skipper Joel Selwood is being rested.
Troubled Kangaroo Tarryn Thomas will miss because of personal reasons.
Richmond midfielder Kane Lambert and fellow premiership hero Jason Castagna have been named on an extended interchange for Sunday’s clash with West Coast.
As expected Jordan De Goey returns for the Magpies with key defender Jeremy Howe to miss Saturday’s night’s clash with the Gold Coast Suns because of a virus.
The Suns have named mature-age recruit James Tsitas for his debut with the 27-year-old winning the last spot on the Suns list in February.
Tsitas, a former Geelong VFL player, won last year’s Magarey Medal in South Australia playing for Woodville-West Torrens in a season where he averaged 28.6 disposals.
Port Adelaide will field its best team for some time with Orazio Fantasia named for his second game of the season against Fremantle at Optus Stadium. Defender Darcy Byrne-Jones, Tom Clurey and veteran Robbie Gray also return.
Magpies confirm star will return
Collingwood star Jordan De Goey will make his return in the Magpies’ clash against the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday night.
Magpies coach Craig McRae confirmed on Thursday that De Goey would face the Suns at Metricon Stadium provided he gets through the week of training.
He joined his teammates on the track on Thursday as part of an open training session before Magpies supporters.
It’ll mark De Goey’s first game back since his controversial mid-season trip to Bali that resulted in the 26-year old copping a suspended $25,000 fine and taking personal leave from Collingwood to miss its win over GWS last weekend.
Jeremy Howe will miss the trip to the Gold Coast with illness with youngster Charlie Dean a possibility to play.
“That will be a discussion, I’m not sure. He (Dean) trained really well,” McRae said.
“I thought last week he needed a run (in VFL)... I love setting people up to succeed so whether we throw him in the deep end I’m not sure.”
Lachie back in hunt for Dogs
—Glenn McFarlane
The Western Bulldogs have suffered a serious blow for Thursday night’s clash with Brisbane at the Gabba with important small defender Caleb Daniel ruled out with injury.
It comes as premiership wingman Lachie Hunter has been recalled for his first AFL match in more than two months as the Lions brought back two stars for the game.
Hunter hasn’t played since being granted personal leave after Round 5 to deal with “individual challenges, which have affected his health and wellbeing”.
Daniel has been ruled out with a knee cartilage issue in a shock for the club, while Ed Richards (concussion) will also be missing.
As expected ruckman Tim English will have another week out of the team, as he recovers from delayed concussion symptoms arising out of the Greater Western Sydney game.
The Lions have been boosted by the return from injury of skipper Dayne Zorko and Zac Bailey, who missed last week’s 64-point loss to Melbourne.
Mitch Robinson was one of three players to be dropped along with Deven Robertson and Tom Berry.
Hunter returned at VFL level two weeks ago and his 26-disposal performance for Footscray last week convinced coach Luke Beveridge he was ready to resume at AFL level.
“(Hunter) played quite well in the victory here against Box Hill. (He) played in a different role to make sure he could have the most impact at state league level and he played well,” Beveridge said.
The Bulldogs announced on Tuesday that forward Dom Bedendo will make his debut.
Beveridge is hopeful English will be back for the clash with Sydney next week, saying: “He is training now and seems to be fine.”
