Collingwood’s bid to keep its premiership defence alive has been dealt another injury blow with Jordan De Goey ruled out of Sunday’s must-win match against Richmond.

De Goey has been restricted to 12 matches this year by injury and will miss round 20 after being ruled out with a groin issue.

Small forward Joe Richards, who had been omitted, has been recalled in De Goey’s place.

The Magpies have made five changes with Mason Cox, Wil Parker, Harvey Harrison, Jack Bytel and Lachie Schultz returning for the clash with the bottom-placed Tigers.

Collingwood sits 13th on the ladder and must defeat Richmond to avoid slipping further behind the top eight.

Premiership player Billy Frampton couldn’t find a spot in the side and has been named an emergency.

Richmond has added two big names themselves, with Tim Taranto and Nick Vlastuin in.

Samson Ryan has been named to ruck in Toby Nankervis’ stead despite an ankle concern.

Superstar Dustin Martin remains absent.

Caleb Daniel is back for his first game for the Western Bulldogs since round 14, alongside Liam Jones and Riley Garcia.

Daniel has fallen out of favour at the Dogs this year and played just 10 games, despite dominant form in the VFL.

Each of Jack Macrae, Joel Friejah and Ryley Sanders have been listed as managed outs.

Jones’ return from injury will see him and Rory Lobb share the backline against Sydney, with the Swans bringing in skipper Callum Mills and Sam Wicks for injured pair Tom Papley and Dane Rampe.

Hawthorn will travel to Adelaide with an unchanged line-up after last week’s thumping of Collingwood.

The Crows made three changes, led by the return of veteran Taylor Walker.

Chayce Jones and James Borlase both come in for the Crows, in place of Jordan Dawson (concussion), Jordon Butts (foot) and Nick Murray (knee).

TEAMS: GAWN, HEPPELL RETURN

Melbourne captain Max Gawn is poised to return after missing three games due to a chipped fibula.

The Dees star will relieve Harrison Petty and Jacob van Rooyen in the ruck against the Giants’ in-form Kieren Briggs on Saturday night.

It comes as Melbourne premiership midfielder Tom Sparrow was dropped following the Demons’ woeful clearance effort in the loss to Fremantle.

Mitch McGovern was cleared to return against Port Adelaide on Friday night with Brodie Kemp recalled alongside him in the Blues’ backline, as Marc Pittonet replaced Tom De Koning.

But Jordan Boyd was named in the emergencies after it was expected he would return following a battle with shin soreness.

Essendon veteran Dyson Heppell and key forward Peter Wright won quick reprieves for Saturday’s twilight clash against St Kilda as Todd Goldstein was again dropped.

Veteran Geelong defender Jed Bews will play his first senior game of the season as coach Chris Scott rests Zach Tuohy from the trip to Hobart to face North Melbourne.

Bews, 30, will come into the side along with Shannon Neale and Tanner Bruhn, who returned impressively through the VFL last week after suffering a fractured scaphoid.

Zane Duursma, Will Phillips and Jaidyn Stephenson have been recalled by North Melbourne.

Stephenson is set to play at halfback where he was trialled in the VFL, as spots have been vacated by injured rebounding duo Colby McKercher and Zac Fisher.
