First-year Saint Oscar Adams will serve an indefinite suspension following a club investigation into his involvement in a car accident.

The 18-year-old defender was above the legal blood alcohol limit when he crashed his vehicle on February 5, St Kilda confirmed in a statement.

An internal review, run in conjunction with the club’s integrity committee, executive and player leadership group, found Adams breached his player contract and the AFL players’ code of conduct.

He is ineligible for selection until at least round 3 of the VFL season, which is the weekend of April 9 and 10.

Adams must also discuss his conduct and apologise to the entire playing group, and has committed to unpaid work in St Kilda’s community programs for the rest of this year.

Police have not laid any charges but the Saints said Adams could face further sanctions if he is convicted of a drink-driving offence.

St Kilda selected Adams with the No.51 pick in last year’s AFL draft from SANFL club Glenelg.
