My Space Helensvale: Plans to redevelop carpark near Westfield for new warehouse development

A popular carpark next to one of the Gold Coast’s busiest shopping centres will redeveloped in the latest step of the busy region’s transformation.

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

A popular carpark next to one of the Gold Coast’s busiest shopping centres will be transformed into a giant storage and warehouse facility.

The 26,640sq m site, which fronts Town Centre and Millaroo drives at Helensvale, will become My Space, a two-storey complex which has been proposed by HHQ Pty Ltd.

Plans lodged earlier in August with Gold Coast City Council reveal the project would be delivered in two stages, with the first featuring 35 storage units and a further 26 self-storage units. The second stage would have a further seven units.

The first stage would also feature 140 carparks for patrons, with 78 more in the second stage.

“The proposed up-market industrial development features a well-presented building with thoughtful articulation through a staggered footprint to the important Town Centre Drive frontage,” a planning report lodged with the council reads.

“The brick facade of the cornerstone building at the intersection of Town Centre Drive and Millaroo Drive adds to the visual appeal and makes a significant contribution to the character of the area.

“Complementing the built form, the landscaping is thoughtfully designed with greenery that softens the industrial look and creates an inviting atmosphere.

“A carefully chosen range of colours and materials, including sleek metals and textured concrete, ensures a modern and cohesive appearance that reflects the development’s high standards.”

It is the latest in a series of large-scale industrial projects pitched for Helensvale.

In March, Melbourne group Sandhurst Retail and Logistics lodged plans for a $100m business park on Millaroo Drive.

The site, which sits between Westfield and the M1, was once earmarked for a Masters hardware before the chain folded.

The Helensvale Business Park will feature 79 strata-title industrial units.
