Cienna Varsity Ridge: Homecorp begins construction of Varsity Lakes towers

Ground has broken on a $250m twin-tower project in one of the Gold Coast’s most congested suburbs but there’s a feature inside which will take pressure off the area’s tight streets. DETAILS

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

Prolific developer Ron Bakir has broken ground on the second stage of the $250m Cienna Varsity Ridge towers.

The Homecorp project will feature 289 one-to-three-bedroom units and be launched to the market later this year.

Mr Bakir said the towers, which would be 12 and 14 storeys respectively, would be aimed at the affordable market.

“As we kick off 2025 with stage two of Cienna Varsity Ridge, we are setting the stage for an incredible year of growth and cutting-edge initiatives to deliver affordable housing through an iconic project that will stand the test of time. We are creating an inspiring community of the future where people belong,” he said.

“We are not just building homes, we are creating a dynamic community-focused hub.

“This project will support families in a central location, university students with close access to Bond University, and downsizers with easy access to health and lifestyle amenities right at their doorstep.

“For first homebuyers, it offers the incredible opportunity to secure a home they can truly call their own.”

The second stage will be built on a site fronting Varsity Lakes’ Main Street, neighbouring the first two towers.

Homecorp secured a green light from council for the project in November.

The number of carparks has also increased, with a further 44 added, including 25 for public use.

It comes more than 18 months after the 257-unit first stage of the project was completed in mid-2023.

Area councillor Dan Doran said the project would deliver significant infrastructure for the area.

“Stage two of Cienna Varsity Ridge is an incredibly important addition to our skyline, adding much-needed apartments to the local supply, so you have a place for local families to buy and live in this beautiful part of Varsity Lakes,” he said.

“The most important element of stage two is that it will bring coveted affordable housing not only to the Gold Coast, but right here in Varsity Lakes.

“We need a lot more housing and we want housing that looks good, is architecturally designed and delivered so professionally, as has been done before by Homecorp, and that’s what stage two will deliver.

“Really importantly, stage two will also deliver a much-needed public car park for the community.”
