The Mount Lofty home has undergone major renovations as well as an extension. It started out as a small, run-down residence and was transformed into a luxurious period masterpiece.

The home was bought by Craig and Michelle Oldfield four years ago with the vision of transforming it into a craftsman's dream.

The renovations took about 18 months to complete with all the finishing touches added last month.

Mr Oldfield designed the home with help of Building Design Professional's David Melloy.

"We changed our design a number of times but we went in with the vision of it being unique and keeping in style with the craftsman's era," Mr Oldfield said.

"The entire house is designed in the same style and you can't tell where it has been extended.

"We didn't cut any corners and have made sure great effort went in to everything we did including the cornices and cladding.

"It has been totally stripped and sometimes with renovations, they can really feel like renovations but this feels like a brand new home."

The 350sqm home sits on a large private 916sqm block.

It is an entertainer's dream and features dual gourmet kitchens incorporating an amazing butler's pantry, with four ovens, four steam ovens, multiple induction cooktops and two dishwashers.

It has stunning light-filled open plan living with a formal lounge and media room, high ceilings, bamboo polished floors, an expansive spotted gum deck and a detached office and music room.

The home has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a double garage.

Mrs Oldfield designed the interior of the home. She is not a qualified interior designer but clearly has the magic touch.

"In terms of the interior we had a clear view. I have a real passion for the traditional look and what we love is the craftsman era and high attention to detail," she said.

"The house seamlessly matches all the way through and people have commented that the style flows inside and out."

Since the house went on the market 120 couples have been through the home and Mr Oldfield said they were happy with the glowing reviews they were receiving.

"The house really doesn't disappoint. It has a nice frontage and by the time people get to the backyard they are overwhelmed with the beauty of it and it is nice people are picking up on all the finer details," he said.

"We are feeling confident going into the auction because we are happy with all the feedback."

35 Mary St is open for inspection today and Sunday from 4.30pm and Thursday at 5pm.

It will go to auction on Sunday, February 5 at 11am with registrations open at 10am.
