US President Donald Trump has announced a major $US500 billion ($800 billion) investment to build infrastructure for artificial intelligence led by Japanese giant SoftBank, Oracle and ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.
The venture, called Stargate, “will invest $500 billion, at least, in AI infrastructure in the United States,” Mr Trump said at the White House.
In another development, Mr Trump’s border tsar Tom Homan told Fox News that the new administration’s mass deportation operation has already begun, as the new administration carries out its crackdown against illegal immigration.
It came after the US President fired 1,000 opponents from US government on his first full day in power after taking office with a shock-and-awe blitz of executive orders.
Mr Trump earlier attended a multifaith prayer service at Washington’s National Cathedral, where the US President struggled to stay awake at times.
Mr Trump appeared restless when Reverend Mariann Budde, the Episcopal Bishop of Washington who delivered the homily, spoke of the rights of immigrant workers and LGBT people, making a direct plea to the US President.
