US election live: Donald Trump takes to stage after Elon Musk, Hulk Hogan fire up crowd at Madison Square Garden rally
Donald Trump’s latest rally was packed with stars and profanities, a glowing introduction by wife Melania and a huge statement from Elon Musk.
A star-studded and profanity-filled six-hour rally in the world’s most famous arena has ignited former president Donald Trump’s sprint to the finish line against Kamala Harris.
Accompanied by his wife Melania, who spoke on the campaign trail for the first time, Mr Trump packed 20,000 fans into New York’s Madison Square Garden and boasted he could win his home state – a feat not achieved by a Republican presidential candidate in 40 years.
While the Vice President campaigned in the critical battleground of Pennsylvania, Mr Trump stormed into the Democratic stronghold alongside the world’s richest man Elon Musk, pro wrestler Hulk Hogan and former independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“I’m thrilled to be back in the city I love,” the 78-year-old said.
“We will achieve success that nobody could imagine … This is going to be America’s new golden age.”
The rally was controversial before it even began, with Mr Trump’s 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton accusing him of “re-enacting” an infamous pro-Nazi rally at the same venue in 1939.
Ms Harris’s running mate Tim Walz drew the same comparison, following revelations about Mr Trump’s private praise of Adolf Hitler, saying: “Don’t think that he doesn’t know for one second exactly what they’re doing there.”
Hogan, who made his name in the iconic venue, said: “Today, this is Donald Trump’s house … I don’t see no stinking Nazis here.”
