The Duchess of York has shared her joy at becoming a grandmother for the third time after her daughter Princess Eugenie announced she is expecting her second child.

Sarah Ferguson said she was in “granny heaven” as she revealed she is “deeply grateful” that the princess, who is married to businessman Jack Brooksbank said the baby was due mid-year.

The 32-year-old princess, who is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, announced the news by sharing an adorable photo of her son, August, kissing her stomach.

“We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer,” Princess Eugenie wrote via Instagram.

Writing on Instagram, the Duchess of York shared a new photo of Eugenie‘s son August playing in the rain.

“You will be sharing puddles, Augie ! Superb news, Granny heaven …. So deeply grateful.”

Buckingham Palace also shared the baby news.

“Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce they are expecting their second child this summer,” the Palace said in a statement.

“The family are delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother.”

The baby will be 13th in line to the throne, one spot behind their older brother in the line of succession and one ahead of Prince Edward, King Charles’ youngest sibling.

The news comes after a difficult period for the royals following the publication of Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare, where the former royal laid bare the troubling extent of his rift with his family.

And despite being estranged from the royals, he has remained close to his cousin, Princess Eugenie and her husband.

The princess’ own father Prince Andrew has also been embroiled in controversy over his links to dead sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and convicted sex trafficker, Ghislaine Maxwell.

The baby will be the second child for Princess Eugenie and her husband, whose son, August, was born almost two years ago.

August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, one, was born February 9, 2021, at the Portland Hospital in London.

He was delivered by caesarean section due to the Princess’s childhood scoliosis operation on her spine.

Princess Eugenie and sister Princess Beatrice, were among royals who celebrated Christmas at Sandringham.

Princess Eugenie and businessman Mr Brooksbank began a relationship in 2011 and confirmed they were a couple during an appearance at Royal Ascot that same year.

When Princess Eugenie left London to work for an auction house in New York in 2013, the pair maintained a long distance relationship.

At the time, Mr Brooksbank told the Daily Mail: “We spend a lot of time on Skype. It’s great. We’re still very much together.”

They married at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in 2018.

Sarah, Duchess of York, praised her two daughters’ parenting skills during an interview with Hello magazine in 2021.

“My children are phenomenal mothers. They were great children but now they’re phenomenal mothers. And now, I have these two exceptional grandchildren all in one year.”

The couple’s child will be the first of the late Queen’s great-grandchildren born following the monarch’s death in September.
