Prince Harry and Meghan have reportedly introduced the Queen to her great-granddaughter Lilibet for the first time.
The Sussexes introduced Lilibet – the Queen’s nickname as a child – during a private lunch of senior royals at Buckingham Palace following Trooping the Colour on Thursday.
Lilibet is visiting the UK for the first time and will turn one on Saturday.
Prince Harry and Meghan had kept their children in California until now as they dipped their toes back into British life following their decision to step away from royal duties in January 2020.
But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex showed off their playful parenting skills at the Trooping the Colour on Thursday night.
The pair were photographed entertaining some of the youngest royals.
A group of 30 royals, who were not involved in official events, were watching the pomp and ceremony through the window of the Major General’s Office on the edge of the Horse Guards Parade.
In the photographs, Meghan can be seen putting her fingers to her lips as she chatted with Prince Harry’s younger royal relatives Savannah Phillips, 11, and her sister Isla, 10, along with Lena Tindall, three, and her sister Mia, eight.
Prince Harry also joined in on the babysitting, putting his fingers to his lips too as if to ask the excited youngsters to quiet down.
Meghan, wearing a cream hat with a navy ribbon and elegant navy dress, looked at home with the young royals.
They were also photographed briefly chatting with Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent.
The 86-year-old accompanied the Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the end of the guards parade.
The couple were not seen with Prince William and Kate, in what was a missed opportunity.
The last time the Fab Four was together was at the Commonwealth Day Service in 2020 – with photographs showing their frosty relationship.
The couples have fences to mend after Meghan accused Kate of making her cry during a bridesmaid’s dress fitting in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March last year.
Prince Harry and Meghan also accused an unnamed royal of making a racist remark about their then unborn son Archie in the television interview.
Piers Morgan claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan turned up 15 minutes late for their appointed leaving time for Trooping The Colour.
“Apparently it was all quite frosty behind the scenes and the rest of the family went out in the garden and were milling around and they just disappeared,” he said on his show Uncensored on Sky News.
But the royals were expected to keep up appearances, with hopes that Prince William and Prince Harry could have a rapprochement to avoid taking the shine off the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Any meeting between the Queen and Lilibet was likely to remain private, with no photographs expected to be publicly released.
