Crying dog grieves for dead brother

A TEARY-EYED rottweiler has been filmed apparently grieving over the body of his dead twin brother.

Owner Brett Bennett said Brutus started “crying” after waking up next to the lifeless body of his sibling Hank last week, sharing video of the heartbreaking moment on YouTube.

“Brutus does not want to leave him and will not budge, laying on top of his head,” Mr Bennett captioned the clip, uploaded on Saturday.

He said Brutus had never whined in the two years he has owned him. “But clearly you can see in his eyes, he is crying for his brother who had passed as his world around him just crumbled.

“This is proof that animals do have emotions and feel pain just like we do,” he wrote.

Mr Bennett, who pets Brutus lovingly in the two-minute video, can be heard saying: “Sorry … you’re brother’s in heaven now.”

The clip was uploaded just weeks after Mr Bennett, who says he is homeless, launched an online fundraiser to help find a new place to live with his family of rescue dogs — since reduced to four.

He said he lost his home in Seattle in July and has been living in cars and on the streets ever since.

“Please help me get out of this nightmare situation and get my innocent babies back in a warm loving home,” he explained on his IndieGoGo fundraising page, which has attracted more than $3000 in donations.

Mr Bennett had been chronicling the lives of Brutus and Hank on a dedicated Facebook page since he got them from the same litter two years ago. He said they had been inseparable since birth.

Mr Bennett did not say how Hank died.
