Winter's weather woes: Yes, it really did get that cold

WINTER has certainly gotten off to a chilly start across Toowoomba with official temperatures revealing just how low the mercury dropped.

Thursday recorded the lowest temperature in the Garden City with a chilly 3.7 degrees.

The apparent temperature, however, pushed the 'feels like' mercury far lower to below freezing.

It's a frosty start to the cold season, with long-term forecasts putting Toowoomba in line for a cool and sunny week.

Today is forecast to reach a maximum of 19 degrees, while tomorrow will hover between seven degrees and 19 degrees.

Light winds will pick up on Tuesday with a forecast temperature of seven to 17 degrees, while Wednesday looks set to reach between five and 15 degrees.

The BoM said Dalby was hit with frosts this morning before reaching a maximum of 22 degrees.

Warwick reported some areas of morning frost despite the day getting off to the warmest start in the Rose City this winter.

From a freezing -2.4 degrees on Thursday to a comparatively warm start of 5.3 degrees this morning, Warwick may have warmed up for a  day but the mercury is predicted to plummet again in coming days.
