Shocking video of car running over dead dingo sparks outrage in WA’s far north

A disturbing video showing a lifeless dingo being deliberately crushed under the wheels of a four-wheel-drive in northern Western Australia has been widely condemned as ‘sickening’.

The footage, shared on the Facebook page Aussies Against Animal Abuse, shows a man dragging what appears to be a dingo carcass and placing it beneath the wheel of a 4WD. The vehicle then drives forward, crushing the animal’s body.

“It’s unclear how the dingo died or if they killed it, but their actions clearly show a complete lack of respect for the animal’s life,” the post said.

“The whole incident is disturbing and sadistic.

“The disrespect and cruel behaviour displayed by these three individuals is utterly disgusting and shouldn’t be tolerated.”

The post sparked immediate outrage, with some calling for the people involved to be prosecuted.

“Absolutely sick individuals that need punishment,” one man wrote.

One woman described the act as “absolutely abhorrent behaviour.”

“Some people’s idea of fun is utterly disturbing,” another woman commented.

An RSPCA WA spokesperson confirmed they had received a report about the incident but said the act was not considered an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2002, as the animal was already deceased.

“However, if anyone has knowledge of the dingo suffering cruelty prior to and/or causing its death, they are asked to report it via 1300 278 358 or rspcawa.org.au,” the spokesperson said.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions told the ABC it was not aware of any reports and advised the matter was one for WA Police or the RSPCA.

It has been reported WA Police said it was not a police matter.
