Gracie Piscopo breaks silence after ex Andre Rebelo convicted of murder

An influencer whose ex-partner was convicted of killing his mother in an attempt to keep up with his luxurious lifestyle has broken her silence for the first time.

How do juries decide a verdict?

The former partner of a man convicted of killing his mother in an attempt to keep up with his luxurious lifestyle has broken her silence for the first time since he was found guilty of murder.

Andre Rebelo, was found guilty by a jury of killing his mother Colleen Rebelo in 2020 in a bid to claim her life insurance.

The prosecution has successfully argued Rebelo had killed his mother in an attempt to maintain the illusion of his rich lifestyle with his then girlfriend, influencer Gracie Piscopo, but he was unable to pay his debts.

Ms Piscopo is not accused of any wrongdoing.

The jury had been told the former couple, who share a son, had a combined debt of $121,000 and funded his glamorous lifestyle with personal loans and credit cards.

But Rebelo was being pursued by debt collection agencies at the time his mother died.

Since Rebelo’s conviction, his former partner has stayed quiet on social media - where she has amassed one million followers.

But Ms Piscopo shared a family update with her followers when she posted photos of her son and her dressed in matching Christmas pyjamas in front of a Christmas tree.

Rebelo has been remanded in custody.

He will be sentenced in April the WA Supreme Court for the murder of Colleen Rebelo and several counts of fraud.
