TOOWOOMBA residents woke to the sound of rain this morning, but isn't tipped to last too long.

According to Weatherzone, about 4mm of rain had fallen at the Toowoomba Airport at 9.30am on Saturday.

Thunderstorms are predicted to continue through the afternoon before clearing on Sunday.

Meteorologists are predicting a dry week from Sunday onwards, with temperatures sitting in the mid-20s.
