FOR Toowoomba mum Bella Crockett today was the perfect day to take daughter Pippa out to the park.
"The weather was bad on the weekend with all the wind, we stayed inside,” she said.
"We're making it up going to the park.
"You've got to get the good days in.”
The cold snap that hit Toowoomba and the Darling Downs is set to ease off slightly as the week progresses.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jessica Gardner said the mercury hit seven degrees in Toowoomba on Monday morning.
"The coldest day over the weekend was on Saturday when it got down to five degrees,” she said.
Ms Gardner said it was cooler in other parts of the region on Monday.
"Warwick was 2.3 degrees and Wellcamp was 1.4 degrees.
She said those temperatures meant there most likely would have been frost in the region.
"Generally below four degrees you see frost,” she said.
She said the cold snap was caused by the same system that brought cold weather to New South Wales and Victoria recently.
"It's now a complex low in the Tasman,” she said.
"That brought cool and dry air across most of the state.”
Ms Gardner said the weather would change in the next few days.
"We're expecting to see those minimum temperatures warm slightly,” she said.
It will be sunny for the rest of the week with tops of 20 and 21 degrees.
