A MAN has had a lucky escape after the full weight of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle fell on his leg, trapping him underneath, in Toowoomba tonight.
The man is believed to have taken a turn on Dexter St in South Toowoomba too sharply and fallen off the motorcycle about 6.15pm.
The heavy motorcycle landed on him, trapping his leg between the foot-peg and bitumen.
Due to the weight of the bike, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to help free him and allow him to be treated by paramedics.
QFES station officer Shane Cartwright said the extrication was "tricky".
"It's one of those jobs that's a little bit tricky, but we removed part of the foot-peg in this case, just to be able to remove (the man) from under the motorcycle," he said.
"This is a Harley-Davidson, there's a fair bit of weight around it.
"Normally we'll just lift it straight off but this was a little bit more tricky as the foot was entrapped a little under the foot-peg."
Paramedics then treated the man at the scene.
Mr Cartwright said the man was lucky to escape without serious injuries such as a broken bone.
"Very lucky; a heavy bike like that falling onto the bitumen like that," he said.
"Lucky to get out of it with no broken bones."
