A TOOWOOMBA film studio has captured the first 12 months of construction at Wellcamp Airport in a fascinating time-lapse video.
Evolution Studios composer and editor Wayne Davis said the task of recording an airport's development from bare field to world-class transport facility had been a demanding exercise.
However, the results speak for themselves.
"It's great to be involved," he said.
"We're covering anything to do with the construction of the airport, be it video or photography.
"Part of what we're doing is recording the 'first-ofs' - the first explosion, the turning of the sod, the first plane landing and the roof panels going on the terminal."
The crew has used three special time-lapse cameras to film the project's progress, each mounted atop a 10m tower custom-built by Wagners, the company building the airport.
"We have two permanently-placed cameras," Mr Davis said.
"One is on the southern end of the runway to show its development and another pointing at the terminal.
"There is a third one that roves around to follow what ever is happening, like the tunnel being built."
The 2.87km runway - just 300m shorter than Brisbane Airport's - is nearing completion with the first layer of bitumen to be laid early next month.
Work is also about to begin on a new composite-fibre entry bridge which will lead cars to the terminal.
