A young man has been charged with allegedly stabbing a jogger in a vicious attack that sparked a police manhunt.
A 24-year-old man was running along Spring St in Reservoir when a 21-year-old Reservoir man allegedly ran up to him and stabbed him in the abdomen about 8am on Anzac Day.
Horrific CCTV footage captured the moment the blood-soaked jogger approached a petrol station for help shortly before an ambulance arrived.
The 21-year-old man allegedly fled the scene, but police found him in the area about 2pm on Monday.
Detectives charged him with intentionally causing serious injury, assault and weapons offences.
CCTV footage captured the moment the 24-year-old stumbled his way to the nearby Metro Petroleum service station desperate for assistance.
The footage shows the man slumped down on the concrete while holding his T-shirt to a wound as bystanders make calls for help.
The man was able to stand and speak with police before being taken to hospital for surgery.
The 21-year-old Reservoir man was expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
