A huge love heart has been drawn in the sky by members of Glenn Collins’ aerobatic team, dedicated to the pilot badly injured when his plane crashed at the Avalon Airshow.
In their first public performance since Mr Collins’ horror Victorian crash, stunt pilots Paul Bennet, his son Jett and Glenn Graham from Paul Bennet Airshows made the shape of a heart in smoke trails above Tooraweenah in central west New South Wales, at the Arthur Butler Aviation Museum’s inaugural airshow on April 5.
In a social media post on Thursday of this week, Paul Bennet Airshows said the performance and heart in the sky was “dedicated to injured Sky Aces #4 pilot Glenn Collins as he continues his recovery”.
It went on to “thank everyone again for the incredible support over the past fortnight”.
A veteran pilot and keen skydiver, Mr Collins was performing a stunt on the first public day of the Avalon Australian International Airshow when his aircraft nosedived and hit the ground in front of horrified spectators.
He miraculously survived and was rushed to Melbourne’s Alfred hospital, where he is understood to be recovering from serious spinal and pelvic injuries.
Photos show the giant, perfectly formed, heart in the blue sky, created by Mr Collins’ fellow pilots.
