Inspirational MND fighter Neale Daniher turned star of the show during a powerful end to another successful Daniher’s Drive campaign.
With more than 250 people celebrating over $2 million being raised for FightMND and motor neurone disease research, Daniher dressed up as Captain Hook for the ‘fairytale’ fancy dress themed night in Lorne.
He took to the stage with son Ben for another rendition of his favourite song, Mr Brightside.
“Having dad there really rallied the spirits and that song is our family anthem — it’s a very emotional moment,’’ said Bec Daniher, Neale and Jan’s daughter.
“We’re keeping the tradition alive and we were just happy Dad was able to be there at the start and finish.”
Many former Melbourne players including David Neitz, Guy Rigoni and James and Anthony McDonald, were in attendance at the weekend, along with Lorne local and Channel 7 commentator Brian Taylor and Neale’s brothers Anthony, Terry and Chris.
“Dad had the biggest grin when he saw all the boys,’’ Bec said.
“He’s here and it’s amazing. We know things are really challenging for people and to raise that much money we are just blown away.
