Man shot dead in North Melbourne in early hours of Saturday

Forensic investigators are at the scene where a man was found shot dead in Melbourne’s north after a suspected brawl at a Halloween rave.

A man has been shot dead in North Melbourne in the early hours of Saturday.

Emergency services were called after the man was found with a gunshot wound on Langford Street about 3.15am.

The man, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.

Police have established a crime scene and are working to determine what led to the fatal shooting.

The dead man’s body could be seen covered by tarp on Saturday morning as forensics officers combed the scene.

It is believed the fatal shooting occurred outside a Halloween rave.

A large fight reportedly broke out among partygoers in the street but it is unclear if the brawl occurred before or after the deadly incident.

There were no witnesses remaining on scene by 9am as police continued to investigate.

The street where the deadly attack occurred is mainly home to businesses and empty warehouses.

The crime scene was quiet by 8.30am, after police cordoned off a large area around Langford St, which sits in the shadow of CityLink about 2km north of the Bolte Bridge.

Nearby Macaulay station remained open but was inaccessible from the North Melbourne side.
