A woman’s mysterious death is under homicide investigation.
Homicide squad detectives are probing the bizarre death of a woman who was found in Dandenong Hospital with injuries “consistent with being seriously assaulted”.
The Noble Park woman, who is aged in her 60s but is yet to be formally identified, was reported missing by a neighbour on June 14.
That neighbour claims to have seen the woman with an unknown man on Marna Court in Noble Park but was not able to contact her.
She was later found in hospital on June 16 with serious injuries.
Police were able to speak with the woman but she died in hospital on Friday night.
Homicide squad detectives have quizzed an Endeavour Hills man, 62, but he has been released pending further inquiries.
They are known to each other.
Detectives are treating the woman’s death as suspicious.
Her family were on Saturday afternoon yet to be notified of her death.
“At this time, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident which led to her being injured are still being determined,” police said in a statement.
“Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have further information about the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death.”
