Grand Final viewing: Olympic Park, Melbourne Park, Yarra Park, Fed Square

Collingwood fans who missed out on seats to Saturday’s game will flock to live sites across the city. This is where you can soak up the atmosphere.

Collingwood fans who have missed out on seats to Saturday’s AFL grand final will pack more live sites than ever to cheer their team’s tilt at a 16th premiership.

Grand final tickets officially sold out on Sunday, after a stampede among fans desperate to watch the Pies take on Brisbane.

Pubs in Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond, near the MCG, have also begun booking out as supporters try to lock in grand final venues for Saturday’s decider.

It comes after all club and AFL tickets sold in a matter of hours, with some Magpies fans venting their frustration at Ticketek after they missed out all together, got only standing room tickets, or had to settle for seats high in the stadium despite their expensive memberships.

Collingwood members shared in just 17,000 tickets, despite boasting a record 106,000 members. Some, who shelled out $1000 for memberships, said they were unable to buy tickets despite paying for a guaranteed grand final seat.

Collingwood premiership captain Tony Shaw told the Herald Sun fans would soak up the occasion whether they had tickets or not.

“It’s always hard this time of year because you’ve got your corporates, a lot of them are pre-sold so there is a percentage already gone, so it’s an unlucky thing but a lot of people will miss out,’’ he said. “Hopefully they enjoy it anyway.

“You’d love to be there but if you’re not, you just want to win the bloody thing.’’

Shaw added: “I think we’re in for a ripping grand final.

“They both matched up pretty well … it’s going to be a really exciting build-up.’’

Collingwood will stage a watch party at its Olympic Park home base expected to draw thousands of fans.

The AFL will turn a unique 360-degree stage in a field outside Melbourne Park built for the Grand Final Parade into a premiership party zone, with room for up to 20,000 people.

And the match will be shown on big screens at Federation Square and Yarra Park.

About 14,000 pre-purchased grand final reserve seats have been allocated to MCC members in a random ballot, with 7500 unreserved tickets and 1000 standing-room passes available on Saturday.

In a statement, Ticketek said: “The ballot process ran as per the instruction from the AFL, Collingwood Football Club and the MCG without issue.’’

Collingwood chief executive Craig Kelly said Collingwood would will be “bringing the black-and-white spirit to every corner”.

“And we encourage all members and supporters to immerse themselves in the week and embrace all the activity that will be happening around the club.’’
