A Melbourne wrestling champ accused of waving a knife at police met his match when officers tasered him at Coolaroo this week.
Huseyin Gul, who fought more than 50 high-level bouts, went down for the count after a frightening incident near a youth centre and was later charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences.
He is accused of behaving erratically and making threats to the public in the period before police were called on Monday.
Police say Gul, 42, of Craigieburn moved towards officers with a knife before they subdued him with a taser in confronting scenes caught on CCTV.
Gul was then arrested.
A raid was carried out later at a Botanic Drive, Craigieburn, property where police will allege a commercial quantity of drugs was seized.
Gul has been charged with 25 offences, including drug dealing and weapons offences.
Despite reports to the contrary, police believe there was no religious motivation behind the incident.
The hulking Huseyin was born in Sydney and moved to Melbourne while young.
He has previously worked in security, trucking and traffic control.
