MANAGEMENT of an adult entertainment venue planned for Toowoomba has stripped back the building's grime in time for Carnival of Flowers.

Workers erected scaffolding around the former Commonwealth Bank branch on Ruthven St to complete the work on Tuesday.

Member for Toowoomba North Trevor Watts said The Vault On Ruthven strip club still faced a final Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal hearing before its liquor licence could be approved.

"There has been no update - they have just chosen to start spending money before their adult entertainment permit has been approved," he said.

"My position hasn't changed.

"I'm still opposed to having a strip club in that location."

Almost 3000 objections to the development were tabled in parliament in January, but it still received approval by the Queensland Liquor and Gaming Commission.

A total of four objections are now before Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, though no hearing date has been set.

Club management LA Showgirls has said the entire building would be gutted before internal renovations could begin.

A spokeswoman said she was confident the club would go ahead.
