School holidays are here and the Darling Downs is the best place to be with plenty of things to see and do.

From science and puppet shows, to music and art workshops, there is something for young people of all ages to enjoy.

To help parents keep the kids entertained these school holidays, here is your ultimate guide to activities in Toowoomba.

Sensational Science

Find out all you need to know about the wonderful world of science at the Cobb and Co Museum on Lindsay St.

Recommended for children aged between three and 12, the Sensational Science School Holiday Fun workshop will run on weekdays only from June 27 to July 7.

Kids will witness explosive experiments, electrifying science adventures and bubbling beakers with glowing chemicals.

Science shows will run for 45 minutes and start at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm daily.

The program is $12 per child.

Drama workshops

Build the confidence and skills to improve your next theatre or comedy performance at the Empire Theatre these school holidays.

The three-day workshop is designed for kids aged between nine and 13 and will teach attendees how to character build and improvise in a supportive environment.

Running from Tuesday, July 4 to Thursday, July 6, the creative workshop will be held at the Church Theatre between 10am and 3pm each day.

Participation is $220 per person.

Cultural activities

Celebrate Indigenous culture at Grand Central Shopping Centre with several free activities related to First Nations people and their traditional culture.

Help elders cook damper with free cooking workshops on Thursday, June 29 at either 11am or 1pm.

Between Friday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 4, Baru Maranga Culture Collective director Stacey Trindall will be facilitating art workshops about First Nations stories, food, symbols and totems.

Kids will learn to make their own boomerang or rain stick and learn about the significance of both items.

The workshop will be offered at 10am, 11am and midday on both days.

Contemporary artist and proud Gunggari woman Izabella Hazard will teach others about the connection between Indigenous culture and painting throughout the days of Tuesday, June 27 and Wednesday, June 28.

Dion Drummond will also perform Indigenous dance routines and play the didgeridoo at 10am and midday from Wednesday, July 5 to Sunday, July 9.

All school holiday activities are free and will be held at the Centre Court on Level 1, near Smiggle.

The shopping centre will also be raising money for the Carbal Medical Services’ Elders programs with the opportunity to donate a gold coin per activity.

Larrikin Puppets

Enjoy an interactive comedy show featuring a puppet show with characters similar to those from The Muppets.

Other activities available on the day will include face painting, miniature golf, pony rides and a petting zoo.

The event will be held at City Golf Club Toowoomba on South St on Wednesday, June 28 from 11am.

Snowflakes in Stanthorpe

Dress up in your warmest Winter gear and head out to the Stanthorpe Showgrounds on High St.

Snowflakes in Stanthorpe is a three-day festival which celebrates Queensland’s coldest location every year.

Kicking off on Friday, June 30, there will be markets, craft, entertainment and a children’s lantern parade.

Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2 will consist of a full-day schedule of ice-skating, entertainment, craft, igloo making and fire twirling.

Times and prices vary. Entry is free for children under the age of four.

Musical program

Help make a difference for others and bring the joy of music to your child with the help of Maggie Moo Music programs.

Whether they’re playing musical instruments, playing parachute games, blowing bubbles or dressing up, babies to children aged up to eight will benefit from the educational program.

In addition, funds raised on the day will be donated to The Ellie Project and the Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness centre to assist children who are fighting cancer.

The Maggie Moo Music class runs for 20 minutes and starts at 9.30am on Thursday, June 29.

It will be held at the Level 1 Community Library, near Athlete’s Foot at Grand Central Shopping Centre.

Art workshops

Let the kids express their creativity with a range of fun school holiday activities at the Tinker art studio.

From self portraits and pet paintings to clay trinket dishes and decorating stuffed bears, there is a fun school holiday event for children of all ages to enjoy.

Running from June 27 to July 5, times vary for each class which is $39 per child.

Sporting and science activities

Discover new skills at this interactive school holiday clinic by Engaging Programs that Inspire Kids (EPIK).

Hosted by Ascend Learning, the workshop will consist of tennis, netball, chess and science experiments at the Toowoomba Tennis Association on James St.

Running from 8am until 3pm, the workshop will be held from July 3 to 7.

Weaving and jewellery class

Learn about the cultural tradition of weaving at a school holiday workshop with the Red Sand Sisters.

Whether you want to make your own woven bangle or necklace, all materials will be supplied.

Running from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday, July 1, the creative session will be held at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery at 531 Ruthven St.

Designed for children aged between eight and 12 years old, all kids must be accompanied by a guardian.

The cost to participate is $11 per person.

Languages program

Expand your horizons and learn to speak in French or Japanese at this school holiday Winter program with Bonjour Toowoomba at 11A / 12 Prescott St.

The program will also consist of a range of fun activities including sport, games, songs, crafts and cooking.

Running from 8.30am to 2.30pm, the sessions will be held on June 26 and 28, as well as July 3, 5 and 6.

Craft Club

Experiment with these crafty workshops through Headspace Toowoomba with a range of free Craft Club activities on offer for young people aged between 12 and 18.

The organisation will hold an origami class on both Tuesday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 4, between 2pm and 4pm.

Then on Thursday, June 29, Headspace will host a DIY fidget toy and pen topper class, followed by a bookmark making session on Thursday, July 6, both running from 4pm to 6pm.
