Truckie search continues after teen critically hurt in crash

CRASH investigators are confident they will identify the truck driver at the heart of a crash that ended with a teenager suffering critical injuries.

FORENSIC Crash Unit investigators are closer to identifying the truck driver who played a role in a serious crash at Oakey that left a teenager in hospital with critical injuries

Senior Contestable John Reid said he would review Department of Transport and Main Roads footage along the length of the Warrego Highway to identify the truck. 

He is also keen to speak with the teenager, who is recovering in the Royal Brisbane Hospital. 

"His condition is stable and we have been advised he will improve rapidly," Snr Const Reid said. 

It is understood the teenager, a 19-year-old Brisbane man, had a heated argument with the unidentified truck driver on the side of the Warrego Highway.

As the truck driver returned to his vehicle the 19-year-old moved to block his path.

A second car has then struck the teenager, resulting in critical injuries. 

The incident occurred about 6.30pm on Sunday.

Snr Const Reid said police spoke with the passengers who were travelling with the 19-year-old, along with the driver in the second car. 

However, the truck driver left the scene before police arrived. 

Investigators have asked that he present at the nearest police station.

Anyone with dashcam footage captured along the Warrego Highway between 6-7pm Sunday, near Oakey, is encouraged to contact police.
