A woman has been charged over the death of a nine-year-old boy.
Emergency services were called to a Charles St residence in Kirwan at 7.05pm on Saturday following reports a boy was unresponsive.
When police arrived at the scene, officers found the boy dead.
The woman, 24, was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
Police say the two were known to each other.
The woman has been charged with murder and will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on January 27.
