Three youths taken into custody after stolen car stung in Garbutt

Three youths allegedly tried to make a run for it after a stolen Nissan Navarra was stung by police in Garbutt, only to crash into a pole and be caught moments later.

Three youths allegedly tried to make a run for it after a stolen Nissan Navarra was stung by police in Garbutt, only to crash into a pole and be caught moments later.

Police said a stolen Nissan Navarra, allegedly driven by the youths, was intercepted by police along Ingham Rd, Garbutt after 12pm on Tuesday.

The car eventually crashed into a pole on Pilkington St and three occupants allegedly attempted to run away on foot but were apprehended shortly after.

Youths in the stolen car wearing masks and gloves had been sighted allegedly trying to fuel up at the Caltex in Rasmussen earlier that day.

A 16-year-old Heatley boy has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and armed robbery with violence and attempted entry of vehicle.

He is due to appear in Townsville Childrens Court tomorrow, May 8.

A 17-year-old boy is in custody and currently assisting police investigations.

A 14-year-old girl was cautioned.
