Acclaimed as a hotspot for foodies, Warrina Shopping Centre has now solidified its credentials as a beauty hub after cosmetic tattoo salon Three Crowns PMU opened in early November.

Cosmetic tattooing, also known as permanent makeup (PMU), is a growing trend in the beauty industry, where specialised equipment is used to implant pigments into the dermal layer of the skin to enhance certain features.

There are several reasons why permanent makeup is growing in popularity, including the time and money saved from applying and reapplying makeup, the long-lasting results, with a natural look that defies age and boosts confidence.

Originally from Sweden, Townsville mother-of-three and owner of Three Crowns PMU, Sofia Radley always knew that makeup and using her hands was her “true and real passion”, where she often helped friends attain the right look.

After a decade with Telstra, she pursued her passion by studying a diploma of beauty at TAFE, before working in the local beauty industry and venturing down the path of cosmetic tattooing.

“I was quite obsessed with makeup and the features of people’s faces, being able to enhance people’s natural beauty, and I had my own brows tattooed years and years ago,” Ms Radley said.

“I guess it was when that happened, that I thought this is something I would love to do for others. If I won millions of dollars, I would still want to do cosmetic tattooing.”

With the support of her partner Luke Walch, the couple undertook a $20,000 renovation of a vacant space in the shopping centre, creating a “beautiful and relaxed” environment for clients to get ombré brows, combination brows, microblading, touch-ups, colour boosts, and saline tattoo lightening.

“I’ve chosen my pigment range carefully. I’m a big fan of pigments that allow more room for movement and flexibility in the years to come for my beautiful clients,” she said.

“Another service I offer is Inkless Stretch Marks Revision (ISR), where high-quality healing serum is carefully injected by a tattooing machine to improve the appearance of stretch marks. … (by) triggering the skin’s innate healing mechanisms.”

Otto’s Fresh Food Market co-owner Don Peel was pleased to welcome the new business into the centre, where it complemented Townsville Anti Aging, Bamboo Beauty and Massage, Harley Beauty Salon, and Beautiful You.

“We’ve got a great tenant mix at the centre, offering our customers a really wonderful and unique retail experience in Townsville … (with) high levels of foot traffic, central location, and easy parking,” Mr Peel said.

“We’re currently ramping up for Christmas and have some very exciting new products in store so come check them out.”
