Three people are in custody after a group of brazen teens got online to boast about stealing a brand-new Ford Raptor during an early morning crime spree in Townsville.
Police are investigating after a blue Ford Raptor dual cab was stolen from a home along Warbler Cres, Douglas around 2.30am Wednesday.
Young offenders brazenly posted footage of themselves in the stolen ride on Instagram later that morning.
The footage shows the teens filming close-ups of the Raptor’s seat decals and a 360-degree view of the outside of the big blue ute, while their mates keep watch from inside.
But the car wasn’t on the loose for long with officers from the Tactical Crime Squad intercepting the vehicle around 10.20am, taking three people into custody.
However a grey Mitsubishi Pajero, seen travelling in convoy with the stolen Raptor that same morning, remains missing.
Police say the Pajero was taken from a home on Supplejack Ct, Mount Low around 4am on Wednesday.
The latest arrests come as police continue their search for thieves who stole a marked work ute parked near the Bowen Rd Bridge construction site in Rosslea at around 8.40am on Tuesday.
The Toyota HiLux dual cab utility, displaying NQ Earthmoving signage, remains outstanding, and police are investigating.
Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as investigations continue.
