In a first for the annual Supercars event, Summernats will showcase what they do best with the Pro Burnout series.

Not only will there be burnouts on display, there is set to be drifting as well, so that all kinds of revheads can have their fill across a weekend of packed motoring action.

“Just a bit of a spectacular thing to come and see, do and listen to,” said driver Jay Chun Tie.

“It’s a bit of fill in entertainment while the track is on the downtime.”

Spread out over 11 shows over three days, Mr Chun Tie said the Saturday night show will be the biggest.

“Full burnouts, no holdbacks, it’ll be the full experience,” he said.

“Saturday night’s the one to go to.”

Ben Isaacson, who drives the Ground Up Motorsport Drifter, said the shows will follow a certain pattern over the weekend.

“The drift demos will have two, potentially three cars at a time, doing a specific layout just to keep it simple and keep everyone occupied,” Mr Isaacson said.

“And then in between, the burnout guys will have timed sessions for themselves individually, they can have up to three or four cars, depending on their space provided.”

Mr Chun Tie said there will not be much down time for the drivers.

“It’ll just be non-stop action, one car off the next car on, yeah it will be a good show for sure,” he said.

Event Manager Matt Rumsden said he was keen to bring in some entertainment in a part of the racetrack that is normally bare.

“This area has always been a blank canvas for me, so it ideally fits like a burnout pad,” he said.

Mr Rumsden said at this stage, it’s a one to two year plan to have the Pro Burnout Series at the Supercars event.

“Hopefully we’ll go bigger than that, grow it into something which is going to be a stalwart of the event.”
