The Cowboys have extended the contract of middle forward Sam McIntyre for two years, keeping him in North Queensland colours until the end of the 2026 season.
McIntyre quickly made a name for himself after his arrival last year after putting his tireless work ethic and passion for the game on show during pre-season.
McIntyre made his arrival to the Cowboys midway through 2023 after spending time at the West Tigers and the Gold Coast Titans.
The middle forward is an adaptable player on the field due to his experience in multiple positions from previous clubs playing second row and hooker and has also slipped into the centres during the Cowboys round 3 win over the Dragons this year.
Cowboys General Manager of Football, Michael Luck said that the club is thrilled that McIntyre has decided to extend his stay.
“Sam came to our club looking for an opportunity and has impressed everyone in the building through his professionalism, work ethic and what he’s done on the field both at Queensland Cup level and now in the NRL,” Mr Luck said.
“Sam is a big body, he’s skilful and he can play a number of positions and players with that versatility are tremendously valuable in today’s game.”
McIntyre will pull on the number 16 jersey this weekend against the Titans at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
