Townsville’s first bathhouse has officially opened its doors, inviting locals to relax in a ‘tranquil’ environment.

Townsville’s first bathhouse has opened in West End, bringing the opportunity for locals to unwind and relax.

Naia Balneum describes itself online as a “modern sanctuary for everyday wellness,”

Owner Amanda Law said her visits to bathhouses in South East Queensland inspired her to bring the experience to the North.

“I really felt like Townsville could do with [a bathhouse] here,” she said.

“I’ve been on a little bit of my own self journey over the past year, and I really enjoy what they bring.”

Naia Balneum offers facilities such as saunas, a steam room, hydrothermal pool, cold plunge and ice bath.

Ms Law said the space is perfectly crafted to suit the needs of Townsville locals, and acts as a recovery mechanism restoring balance and wellbeing.

“I wanted it to feel tranquil, I wanted it to feel inviting, I wanted it to feel like people could relax,” she said.

“I really wanted it to be an inviting experience, luxury, but still with the laid back vibe.”

Ms Law said she hoped locals could take time to treat themselves and take a self-care day at Naia.

“It isn’t selfish to take that time for yourself in the busy world that we all live in,” she said.

“That’s what we’re really trying to achieve with Naia.”
