There will be an electrifying evening of Sunset Vibes pumping a blend of Aussie classics mixed with modern beats at Jezzine Barracks Friday evening.

1RAR Band is back with free performance at the Crossed Boomerang Amphitheatre and the band’s musical director Major Ben Bonney said the show would be a feast for the eyes and well as the ears.

“It’s under lights. All sequenced to the show with lighting effects,” Major Bonney said.

He said there would be a combination of contemporary music and well as some of the old favourites.

“There are some of the classics, some of the newer stuff and there are even some instrumental songs in there, just to break it up just a little bit. But, mostly it’s going to be music that people know and love.

“We’re playing a few Zach Brown numbers. We’ve got some music by Jessie J and Lizzo, and then Australian artists like Jess Mauboy and ACDC.”

He said the 1RAR Band did a range of community performances throughout the year.

“We try and do the Sunset Vibes twice a year in Townsville. We were just out a couple of weeks ago performing some jazz on the Strand.

But he said the performance this Friday evening would be completely different.

“It’s going to be a concert with a lot of variety with country, pop and rock.

“We’re going to have a section that features Aussie artists in it. It’s going to all be under lights with a full PA.

“There’ll be a barbecue happening put on by the North Sappers Association that should be ready to go from 5.30pm.

“So if people are coming from work or picking up kids and they’re worried about food, they can just come straight here and grab a bite to eat and wait for the show to start.”

The free concert goes from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Crossed Boomerang Amphitheatre at Jezzine Barracks.
