Fire crews called to large rubbish fire at Hervey Range tip

Firefighters are battling a large rubbish fire at the Hervey Range Transfer Station, with thick black smoke visible from surrounding areas.

Firefighters are battling a large rubbish fire at the Hervey Range Transfer Station, with thick black smoke visible from surrounding areas.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said two crews were dispatched to the scene after reports of a blaze along Hervey Range Rd, Bohle Plains, at about 11am on Tuesday.

Photos circulating on social media show towering plumes of black smoke billowing from the tip, prompting concerns from residents.

At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
