Everything you need to know ahead of Island Life’s Halloween party

Some of Australia’s best DJs will be lighting up the Magnetic Island stage for one of Queensland’s best grave raves. See what’s on offer at this weekend’s ‘horror circus’.

Partygoers are preparing to step into a horror circus this weekend for one of Queensland’s biggest Halloween events, bringing plenty of scare factor and the best of Aussie DJs to North Queensland.

Island Life Halloween is back for 2024, and following the success of last year’s grave rave, the organiser has set out to make Saturday night’s event bigger and better than ever, with an expected 1000 people attending.

The founder of Queensland-based management company ‘The Easy Club’, Liam Buckley, said some of the best Australian music entertainment is flying in from all over the country to Magnetic Island for spooky night.

“We have a really unique line up that Townsville and Magnetic Island haven’t really seen before,” he said.

“We’re providing an experience rather than a night out. We have added extra entertainment alongside the music side of the night, so it’ll be a very good day and night.”

“There’s additional entertainment alongside the music this time because we really just wanted to give it a fun feel so people can enjoy the day, make some memories and have some drinks and also be entertained outside of just being on the dancefloor.”

“We’ve come up with the theme of ‘horror circus’ so we’re dressing up the stage, we’ve got inflatables all around the venue, a fire show, stilt walkers to get that circus feel, LED shows with gloves and hula hoops.”

The 12-hour event features six headliners, including Cyril, KLP, Darby, LO’99, Front Row, and Chumpion, alongside local talent.

“This year, we have really spread out the music with a bit of house, techno, UK garage and bass music, so we’ve tried to cater for a lot of people who like a bit of everything or who have niche taste,” Mr Buckley said.

“We’re trying to provide something really unique to the local community other than a copy-and-paste club night, and because of the location, which is so unique, we kind of feel like we’ve got something special.”

Sealink ferries will be available every hour to transport people to and from Magnetic Island and buses will be running on the island to take people to and from the event location – Nomad’s – and Picnic Bay bus station.

“We have buses meeting the last ferry which is 1.30am which is a private charter from Magnetic Island to Townsville to make sure everyone can get off the island safely and comfortably,” Mr Buckley said.

Tickets are still available to purchase online, with limited accommodation also available at the venue.
