Police are now looking into the actions of a man charged with assaulting women at a massage parlour while he was in Bowen.
Alexander Douglas Stace, 54, is facing three sexual assault charges, with his case heard for the first time in Ayr Magistrates Court earlier this week. He is yet to enter a plea.
Detectives investigating the case believe there could be people in the Bowen area who know more about Stace and his alleged behaviour while in the community.
Detective Inspector Emma Novosel said police believe people in the Bowen area may be able to assist with the investigation.
“Detectives urge any community members in the Bowen area between 2009 and 2011, who may have information regarding incidents of this nature to come forward and speak to police,” Detective Inspector Novosel said.
Stace was first charged earlier this year in relation to several alleged crimes involving a woman in her 40s and another woman in her 20s. No charges have been laid in relation to his time in Bowen.
Police alleged the incidents occurred at a massage business between July 2024 and February 2025.
Investigators are still urging any other people who may have been allegedly assaulted by Stace to come forward.
