A Bull Arab mix puppy called Caesar will likely spend Christmas alone in the Charters Towers pound.
Found wandering around Centenary Park in October without a collar or microchip, Caesar was never claimed by an owner and has spent the last 50 days waiting for someone to take him home.
He used to love playing with the other dogs at the pound, but right now he’s the only dog left.
Caesar’s bad luck has mystified rangers, who say he’s one of the happiest, friendliest and cuddliest dogs they’ve seen come through the shelter.
Caesar is estimated to be under 12-months-old, capable of walking on a loose leash, not a barker, very dog friendly, good around kids, sits and waits for his food, and well mannered.
“He could integrate very well into a variety of households,” a council spokesperson said.
“What he needs most is a family who will embrace him, offer him structure, and give him the love he deserves. He is smart, friendly, and eager to learn. He’d make an amazing companion.”
Caesar is also estimated to be potentially good with cats.
He is available for adoption anytime (including Christmas Day) for $60.
