An Aitkenvale resident is one step closer to her dream after an Instant Scratch-Its ticket she bought for five dollars turned into a life-changing win. Here’s what she plans to do with it.

An Aitkenvale woman has turned a spur-of-the-moment decision into a life-changing $100,000 after picking up an Instant Scratch-Its ticket with her husband.

The lucky Townsville resident purchased a $5 Polar Bear Bingo Plus ticket from Hermit Park News and Casket at the Hermit Park Shopping Centre and scratched her way to a major prize.

She described the win as “surreal” and said it would open the door to a dream she never thought possible – owning a home.

“It’s all a bit surreal,” she said.

“Ever now and then, my husband and I will purchase two Instant Scratch-Its tickets and scratch one each.

“We honestly couldn’t believe it.

“We had to get our friends to check over the ticket to make sure we weren’t seeing things.

“This is going to mark the start of our house hunting journey.

“We never thought we’d be able to buy a house, but now we can.

“It’s all very exciting.”

Layla Perfect, the staff member at Hermit Park News and Casket who scanned the winning ticket, said she was thrilled to be part of the moment.

“I instantly got goosebumps,” she said.

“We know how much $100,000 can change someone’s life and it’s so special to be a part of their win.

“All of the customers are supportive of each other and are happy to hear a local player has won big.

“Over the years, we’ve sold a division one winning syndicate entry and several division two winning tickets.

“We hope our latest winner can create some beautiful memories and enjoy their prize.”
