A police public safety exclusion zone set up in the Townsville suburb of Kirwan has been revoked and a man is in custody.
A police spokeswoman said nobody was injured and the man would be detained while police investigate any possible charges.
Just after 1pm police attended the Gill Street home in relation to a disturbance.
After arriving, authorities began negotiating with the man who resided at the property alone.
A public safety preservation act declaration was made about 2.30pm with boundaries on Frank, Farrell, Hall and Joyce Streets.
Police advised residents to avoid the area and those who lived within the exclusion zone to remain inside until further notice.
There were at least five police vehicles, two ambulances and a fire truck on Gill Street.
Police officers were seen taking multiple water bottles toward the house about 4pm, as at least 18 uniformed emergency services personnel maintained various positions on the road.
Later in the evening, about 6.30pm, the public safety declaration was revoked and the man was taken into custody, a police spokeswoman said.
No body was injured and police would investigate whether the man would charged, the spokeswoman said.
At 6.16pm the power in the area went out.
Ergon says the outage affects 1042 customers, and is due to damage requiring emergency repairs, and fault finding is in process.
