Alyssa Curtis said there were a lot of hard hours of study that went towards her results.
“All I could hope for was that the outcome was going to reflect that hard work,” she said.
She is not taking a gap year but intends to go straight to higher education.
“I’m planning to go straight to uni and do medicine at JCU next year. At the moment, I’m hoping to specialise in obstetrics.”
She was full of praise for the support given to her and the other Year 12 students by her school.
“Just the opportunities we get here and the teachers and everything, it’s really allowed us to excel. I don’t think it would be the same if we weren’t here.”
Fellow Townsville Grammar student Charlotte To is also planning to study medicine but is yet to decide on a university.
“I’m interested in dermatology, particularly because I’ve lived in North Queensland and Darwin, so I’ve seen the prevalence of skin cancer.”
School Principal Timothy Kelly said this is the time of the year where they celebrate the academic diligence and achievements of the school’s senior students.
“We are immensely proud of their results. As a cohort they have been impressive and very deserving of these outcomes.
“We extend our gratitude to our dedicated teachers who have supported and guided them throughout their schooling. We wish all of our Year 12 students the very best as they embark on their future pathways and look forward to welcoming them back as Past Grammarians.”
A total of 22 Year 12 students received QCAA Academic Commendations for receiving straight A results in six general subjects: Kiran Bartlett, Amali Burch, Sophie Chan, Alyssa Curtis, Christian de Jersey, Julia Fulton, Maxwell Hanks, Almaz Hira, Negine Jahangiri, Ruby Lane, Naomi Kutash, Anirudh Mallya, Freya McManus, Jasmine Musumba, Ted Muller, Khoi Pham, Timothy J Rono, Ashna Sabesan, Ina Singh, Marianthi Theodosiou, Charlotte To, Madhava Vyas.
