A POWER outage has left hundreds without electricity in Townsville’s central business district.
Ergon Energy reported 300 customers had been affected by an unplanned outage, which was caused by an underground fault at a building substation on Ogden St.
An Ergon Energy spokesman said crews had located the fault, with repairs underway.
“Our crews are working to get most of the impacted customers back on in the next hour and will then be bringing in a generator to get the remainder back on while they do repairs,” the spokesman said.
Streets that have been affected include:
Blackwood St, Flinders St, Hanran St, Mcilwraith St, Ogden St, Palmer St, Stanley St, Stokes St, Sturt St, Walker St.
On Saturday afternoon, the spokesman said crews were hooking a generator up to provide power to buildings that had lost power.
He said the fault had been located undergound by crews, and that the generator would run until Monday when further repairs could be conducted.
