Top Enders flocked to Civic Park on Saturday, as the Thailand Grand Festival returned for 2025.
The hundreds of visitors to the festival on Saturday indulged in offerings from vendors across the Top End.
Laksas, Pad Thai, Coconut Ice Cream and much more was on offer, along with clothing, jewellery, and toys, among others.
The main stage played host to a variety of interactive shows and activities for visitors, including a Paw-Paw salad making competition, with a brave few taking to the stage for the chilli eating contest.
Maliwan, owner of the Coconut Ice Cream stall, said it was the first time the shop, which usually operates out of Parap Market, had been involved in the festival.
“We’re doing it for Thai culture, we try to get people to know about our culture,” a stall worker said.
Festival-goer Elissa said the food and the music were her favourite parts of the festival.
“It’s all sorts of delicious Thai food,” she said.
“That’s probably the drawcard for a lot of people.”
The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Lanna Maha Songkran’, which invites locals and visitors to experience the culture of Northern Thailand.
As well as food and activities, local and interstate fighters competed for the prestigious Thailand Grand Cup in Muay Thai, in partnership with Darwin’s Man Ho Academy of Martial Arts.
