May 22, 9.45am: A 22-year-old man has been arrested and a woman is in a critical condition after a domestic violence assault in Johnston.
At 8pm on Wednesday night an alleged assault between a man and a woman at a Johnston home was reported to police.
NT Police said neighbours who heard the disturbance provided first aid to the woman, who knew the alleged offender, until St John Ambulance and NT Police arrived.
When officers arrived, a man was arrested and taken to Palmerston Watch House.
The 22-year-old man remains in custody as investigations, led by the Domestic Violence Investigation Unit, continue.
The woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition.
NT Police thanked the neighbours involved for their aid, and urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police on 131 444, quoting reference number P25138375.
