FOR Alyce Nelligan, the state election later this month will make the fourth time she has fought a Toowoomba election.

The disability advocate first ran for the Greens in Toowoomba South at the 2017 election, for Groom at the 2019 federal election and for the council at the recent local government elections.

This morning she was announced as the Greens candidate for Toowoomba North, taking on the LNP’s Trevor Watts and Labor’s Megan O’Hara Sullivan.

“I’m really passionate about social justice and the community,” Ms Nelligan said.

“I want to make the community a much better place so that’s why I keep coming back.

“I’m out there every day talking to people. I guess people are taking notice of that now.”

Long-time local Greens activist Thomas Coyne was announced as the candidate for Toowoomba South, taking on the LNP’s David Janetzki , Labor’s Susan Krause and One Nation’s Dylan Kozlowski.

“It’s definitely different (running as a candidate),” Mr Coyne said.

“I stuck my hand up this election because I’ve seen time and time again that the major parties just aren’t tackling the issues that matter.”

Queensland Greens Senator Larissa Waters said the Greens’ policy platform would see 4000 new jobs created in Toowoomba though investments in renewable energy, education, health care and social housing.
