When to expect warmer temperatures and more rain

After a weekend of rain and cooler temperatures the Bureau of Meteorology has revealed just when the weather will warm up again.

TOOWOOMBA residents have woken to another chilly, windy morning, though these conditions won't hang around too much longer.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Peter Markworth said the Garden City saw a minimum this morning of 6.3 degrees.

"The maximum will be 13 degrees today," he said.

"We're expecting things to warm up slowly (throughout the week).

"As the trough moved through, there was plenty of rain through the end of last week, and the cool dry air following that which has brought along windy conditions."

Mr Markworth said the rise in temperatures would begin from tomorrow.

"It will be a maximum of 19, slowly rising from there to a maximum of 24 on Friday before seeing further rainfall and dips in temperatures on Saturday," he said.

Mr Markworth said the rainfall could be similar to the heavy falls experienced last week.

"Toowoomba is expecting between five to 15mm, there's a chance of thunderstorms as well," he said.

"There will be widespread rain across most of the south of Queensland.

"The situation looks very similar to what we saw last week."
